Supporting local theatre, here, there and everywhere! – The Kamloops Film Society

Response to COVID-19 – The Kamloops Film Society

Kamloops Film Society  June 15, 2020 at 12:59 pm

Dear Kamloops Film Society patrons, volunteers and partners:

Due to the global COVID-19 (“coronavirus”) pandemic and the order sent out today by the BC Provincial Health Officer, a pertinent portion of which we have included below, the Kamloops Film Society and the Paramount Theatre will be closed for public events until circumstances improve.

“You are prohibited from permitting the gathering of people in
excess of 50 people at a place of which you are the owner, occupier
or operator, or for which you are otherwise responsible.

During this time, all volunteer shifts will be cancelled and we will be having staff conduct cleaning, maintenance, marketing, stocking, operations and other activities so as to cover the hours they would have otherwise worked. As the situation continues to evolve, we may be changing our approach, but we will continue to do our best to take care of all Kamloops Film Society employees during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Dušan Magdolen
Executive Director

Kamloops Film Society

The Kamloops Film Society is the umbrella organization that operates the Paramount Theatre and runs two main events: The Thursday Film Series and the annual March Kamloops Film Festival, which includes the Kamloops Independent Short Shorts Festival. The KFS has been operating for over 45 years and was officially incorporated under the BC Societies Act on August 17, 1994. In the spring of 2019, The Kelson Group purchased the Paramount Theatre and leased the venue to the KFS. The support of The Kelson Group and Ron Fawcett has made the venture possible as The KFS continues to make the theatre a cultural venue.
