Kamloops, B.C. – An exciting phase in the City Gardens development has begun, as the sixth-floor concrete slab, a critical structural component of the 24-storey Trillium tower, has now been poured. After a year of dedicated work focused on excavation, building the foundation, and parkade construction, the community of Kamloops is seeing visible changes that are transforming the downtown Kamloops landscape.

“Today, and over the next few months, people will start to notice big changes as the Trillium tower starts to rise from ground level, skyward,” said Jason Fawcett, President of Kelson Group. “We’re very pleased with the progress of the development and thank our many trades teams and partners for their hard work and expertise.”

Steve Bergmann, Kelson Group’s construction manager, also expressed his excitement about the progress made, stating, “This is a key milestone where things really start to become streamlined. Coming out of the ground has been a relatively fast process and now people will get to see the tower grow from 52 feet above the road to 248 feet in the next 6 months. That is just under 30 feet per month.”

Thanks to the extensive planning and organization that has gone into every concrete pour, progress of the development has exceeded expectations, with the Kelson Group development team sharing that Trillium will rise almost one floor per week.

“Every eight or nine days, the plan is that we’re going to be adding a floor to the tower up to the complete 24 storeys, which means that by the spring of next year, Trillium will have reached its final height,” explained Fawcett.

While the tower rises, work on the expansive parkade structure comprised of 600 parking stalls will also continue to make substantial headway, aiming for completion by next year, too.

By November of next year, the Trillium tower will be nearing completion, with the interior and finishing work remaining and move in anticipated for shortly after.
