LANGLEY – New Democrat MLAs Megan Dykeman and Andrew Mercier say local organizations and parent advisory councils will be able to support young artists and extracurricular activities thanks to over $450,080 in Community Gaming Grants funding. This round of funding is from the Community Gaming Grant program’s arts and culture stream and parent advisory council and district parent advisory council (PAC/DPAC) stream.

“Langley is full of creative people and it’s great that so many local organizations can help people foster that creativity,” said Andrew Mercier, MLA for Langley. “We’re here to help community organizations with stable funding like this.”

In Langley, organizations receiving funding to support arts and culture include:

  • Langley Community Music School Society – $55,000
  • Canadian Museum of Flight Association – $30,000
  • Fort Langley Jazz & Arts Festival Society – $15,000

Parent advisory councils receiving funding to support extracurricular events, activities and equipment include:

  • Langley Secondary School PAC – $19,060
  • E. Mountain Secondary School PAC – $41,960
  • Langley Meadows Community School PAC – $9,080

“Local PACs put a lot of care and thought into how to enhance student’s education and experience at school,” said Megan Dykeman, MLA for Langley-East. “Parents know the needs of their children best and our government is happy to support them.”

More than $18.2 million in new funding will go to over 650 organizations to support arts and culture across the province.

More than 1,300 parent advisory councils and district parent advisory councils will also receive over $11.2 million to support extracurricular activities throughout British Columbia.
