KAMLOOPS, B.C. – The KSO Music School (KSMS) is thrilled to announce the launch of three innovative programs designed to inspire and cultivate a love for music in young minds. These new additions aim to provide enriching musical experiences for children of varying age groups, fostering creativity, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

KSO Music School Children’s Chorus:

For Kids Aged 6-12 | Tuesdays | 5 PM | Kelson Hall | Starts Jan 16

Embarking on a harmonious journey, KSMS is proud to introduce the Children’s Chorus—an unauditioned choir open to kids aged 6-12. This vibrant ensemble will offer children of all skill levels the opportunity to explore the joy of creating music in a supportive and inclusive environment. Led by our experienced KSMS faculty—director Rachel Casponi, and pianist Bonita Wiens—the Children’s Chorus promises to be an exciting musical adventure, instilling a sense of teamwork and confidence in each participant.

Meet the Instruments! Programs:

For K to Grade 2 | Various Dates and Times

KSMS recognizes the importance of introducing children to the joy of musical instruments early on. Our new Meet the Instruments! Programs for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 2 offer a hands-on introduction to either the Flute or Violin. These specially crafted 3-month programs provide a solid foundation in music education, allowing young minds to discover the joy of playing a musical instrument while honing essential skills in a supportive and engaging atmosphere. These programs welcome all beginning students whether they have previous music experience, or they are just starting their musical journeys.

Musical Crafters:

For K to Grade 2 | Saturdays | 10 AM | Kelson Hall | Starts Feb 3

In an effort to spark creativity and innovation, KSMS proudly presents the “Musical Crafters” program. Tailored for children in Kindergarten to Grade 2, this program invites young inventors to explore the world of sound by crafting their own musical instruments. Through a combination of artistic expression and hands-on construction, participants will join instructor Bailey Finley to not only create unique instruments but also gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental principles of music and sound.

“These new programs reflect our commitment to provide diverse and accessible musical education for children of all ages at the heart of our community,” says Christopher Young, Executive Director of the KSO & KSO Music School. “We believe that fostering a love for music early in life can have a profound impact on a child’s development, and we are excited to inspire the next generation of musicians and music enthusiasts.”

Enrollment for these programs is now open, and interested families are encouraged to visit KamloopsSymphonyMusicSchool.com for more information on program details, schedules, and registration.
