In a news conference at the Ottawa International Airport, federal ministers Sean Fraser (immigration, refugees and citizenship) and Karina Gould (families, children and social development) unveil the newly redesigned Canadian passport. Minister Fraser also announces that, starting in fall 2023, Canadians will be able to renew their passports online. The new passports, which incorporate enhanced security features, will begin to be produced in summer 2023 and will be phased in over the next decade as the remaining supply depletes. Also taking part in this event is Marie-France Lalonde, Minister Fraser’s parliamentary secretary.
