NDP MLA Doug Routley says double the funding for rural projects will help people in Nanaimo – North Cowichan
NANAIMO – NORTH COWICHAN – New Democrat MLA Doug Routley says that double the funding for B.C.’s newest economic diversification program will enable municipalities, First Nations and not-for-profit organizations to complete more projects in rural communities, including Nanaimo – North Cowichan.
“Our region is full of potential, and I am so proud to be part of a government that is providing the funding necessary to help grow and diversify our local economies,” says Doug Routley, MLA for Nanaimo-North Cowichan. “This funding will help create more opportunities for people, business and non-profits to thrive in our local communities.”
Nanaimo – North Cowichan is receiving $800,000.00 as part of the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP) to promote economic diversification, clean economy opportunities and infrastructure development in rural B.C.
- The Corporation of the District of North Cowichan – Leveraging Infrastructure to Transition the Economy (LITE): Attracting investments into Clean Tech and Value-Added Sectors – $500,000.00
- Petroglyph Development Group Ltd. – Culture Cabins Accommodations – $200,000.00
- Gabriola Island Chamber of Commerce – The Island MBA. Islanders Managing their Business Acumen – $100,000.00
The New Democrat government is investing $66 million this year to support over 200 local, rural projects. Building resilient economies is part of the Province’s work through the StrongerBC Economic Plan to build a strong and sustainable economy through clean and inclusive growth.
