VANCOUVER – NDP MLA George Chow says community grants to not-for-profits in Vancouver will help organizations buy equipment and build or renovate their facilities in order to improve their services for people.

“We all want to live in a thriving, healthy, and connected city, and local organizations play a big role in making this a reality for people in Vancouver,” said George Chow, MLA for Vancouver-Fraserview. “These non-profits are all making important contributions to the city and I’m so glad we can support their continued work.”

The Community Gaming Grants program is providing $5.3 million to 49 not-for-profit that will allow them to make improvements, so that they can keep on delivering services to people.

Some of the organizations receiving funding in Vancouver include:

  • Alzheimer Society of BC
  • Bard on the Beach Theatre Society
  • Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland
  • Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation
  • Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society
  • Lions Gate Chorus – Sweet Adelines International
  • Ocean Wise Conservation Association
  • Pink Ink Theatre Productions Association
  • The Beaumont Studios Artist Society
  • The Kettle Friendship Society
  • Vantage Point Strategies Society
  • Western Front Society

This funding is part of the $140 million distributed annually to not-for-profit organizations that deliver services and make life better for people throughout British Columbia.
