RadRock Productions presents The Zoo Story by Edward Albee at the Pavilion Theatre
RadRock Productions presents Edward Albee’s classic play The Zoo Story.
The Zoo Story will be playing in Kamloops February 9, 10 and 11 2023, starting at 7:30pm at the Pavilion Theatre 1025 Lorne Street.
Albee’s one-act play is about Jerry and Peter, two strangers from different backgrounds, with different desires for human connection, who meet one day in New York’s Central Park. What follows in an encounter that will change both of their lives forever.
Edward Albee is the Pulitzer-prize winning writer of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. The Zoo Story is his first play, and was written during the absurdist theatre movement in 1959, becoming an off-Broadway hit in the early 1960’s.
Featuring Kamloops actors Brandon Reid as Jerry and Derek Rein as Peter, The Zoo Story is directed by Kamloops resident Dušan Magdolen, and stage managed by Jessica Reid.
RadRock Productions was established by Reid and Rein to create their own performance opportunities post-pandemic, with the vision of offering theatre-going experiences unlike those other companies are presenting. Brandon, Derek, Jessica and Dušan are all alumni from TRU’s Actors Workshop Theatre program, and have extensive experience in Kamloops with the likes of Project X and Saucy Fops. They chose The Zoo Story as their premier production because of its relevant themes about isolation, social class division, and the need for people to seek understanding from one another. Over the last few years, we became afraid of one another, and were forced to stay away from other people. The impacts that had on our society are mirrored in Albee’s play, despite being written over 60 years ago.
Tickets are $25 each, and are available now at Kamloops Live! Box Office – www.kamloopslive.ca or 250-374-LIVE.
