Border mayors call for further easing of federal COVID-19 measures – June 15, 2022

At a news conference in Ottawa, mayors Jim Diodati (Niagara Falls, Ont.), Mike Bradley (Sarnia, Ont.), and former mayor Pauline Quinlan (Bromont, Que.) join NDP MP Richard Cannings (South Okanagan–West Kootenay, B.C.) and Barbara Barrett (executive director of Frontier Duty Free Association) in calling on the federal government to relax COVID-19 measures for travellers entering Canada at land borders. On June 14, 2022, the government announced the suspension of COVID-19 vaccination mandates for domestic plane and train passengers and outbound international air travellers.
