International Transgender Day of Visibility – TRU Newsroom

March 30, 2022 at 9:51 am  Education, Kamloops, News

International Trans Day of Visibility is a time to celebrate trans excellence, beauty, and resilience and includes trans women, men, and trans-identifying non-binary folks.

March 31st is a day for reflection, to acknowledge the struggles and discrimination that trans folks face. Whether you’re trans, an ally, a family member, or are questioning your gender identity; Student Services can offer a space for discussion, support, and community.

As a part of this celebration, Ask Wellness and the Kamloops Film Society are hosting a screening of “She’s a Boy I Knew” at the Paramount Theatre. Doors open at 5:00 pm. Tickets are by donation.

The Transgender Pride flag will fly at the Kamloops and Williams Lake campuses to celebrate TDoV. The TRUFA Gender Equity Committee organized this flag-raising initiative to demonstrate TRU’s commitment to ending transphobia and solidarity with 2STNB people on campus and beyond.

Check out the 2SLGBTQIA website in our link in bio for information on campus and community resources.
