Life on the Edge – what is edge computing and why does it matter?
Mr. George Emery, CEO, CanShield Solutions
As the number of connected devices increases–think Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, and Smart Devices–there is a huge amount of data generated that needs real-time processing. As such, edge computing provides the answer to the public clouds biggest problems.
Mr. George Emery is the CEO of CanShield Solutions, a Kamloops-based organization focused on data centre services and advanced research computers. In this role, George has worked with large public and private organizations to support their data hosting and infrastructure needs. Prior to this, George worked and built multimillion-dollar IT infrastructure projects for close to 10 years. George travelled extensively during this time, working with cities and First Nation communities across Canada. Additionally, George spent five years at a Montreal-based consultancy firm looking at macro and microeconomic trends, as well as specific sector analysis. George earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Economics in England followed by an MBA in Montreal.
