Art Exposed 2021 is Going Ahead and Applications are Open

Kamloops BC ~ For the past 10 years, the Kamloops Arts Council has been proud to put on our Art Exposed Regional Exhibit and we are excited to announce that it will be going ahead this year as well! Join us March 5th to 13th, 2021 for this community-centred visual arts exhibit. Art Exposed is open to all residents of the TNRD, whether you are an emerging artist or an established one. The KAC invites artists to submit artwork in any medium – 2D or 3D.

Art Exposed gives the public a chance to view local artwork of many different types, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, jewellery, pottery, photography and more. TNRD artists submit up to two works of art each. All submitted works are displayed at the Kamloops Old Courthouse for the duration of the exhibit. Every nook and cranny of the building is filled with art: the past few years up to 200 pieces have been accepted from approximately 120 artists from within the TNRD, with a significant number of works selling each year.

Local artist, Insun Kang, says that “Art Exposed gave me a great opportunity to showcase my art and reach a large number of people in the community. It’s always challenging as an artist to find places to show artwork, so this is a great benefit, especially if you are a new artist or new to the community. Also, as KAC promotes the event, I don’t have to come up with promotion and marketing ideas by myself. I find it’s inspiring to see all of the artwork and meet artists in one place. You don’t get this kind of opportunity often.”

Art Exposed’s non-curated approach ensures that everyone – from emerging artists to established, and from youth to senior – can participate. For some, it will be the first time they publicly display their work. The emphasis is not on competition; Art Exposed offers community artists a chance to share their work in a professional setting, gain exposure and receive valuable feedback, taking their careers to the next level.

Applications are open until February 14th. Apply here. The work will be judged by a panel of talented jurors who will be available to the artists for a constructive criticism session upon request. There will be three respected jurors from the arts community who will be announced closer to the exhibit date.

For COVID-19 Safety, no more than 4 attendees at any time, mask wearing mandatory: find full safety measures link here. To avoid peak times, we recommend visiting during the week, the artwork will also be available to be viewed online
