The Mustard Seed Partners Launch Turkey Toss Christmas Donation Drive

The Mustard Seed Partners Launch Turkey Toss Christmas Donation Drive

December 4, 2020 at 11:52 am  Community, Kamloops

KAMLOOPS, BC: From December 3 to 6, Save-On-Foods is collecting frozen turkeys and financial donations to help feed individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness in our community.

All five Kamloops Save-On-Foods locations will be accepting donations of frozen turkeys for The Mustard
Seed Kamloops and offering customers the opportunity to add a monetary donation to their grocery bill. In addition, Save-On-Foods will match the first $2,500 in contributions and the BC Turkey Farmers will double all donations over $2,500 to a combined maximum of $4,000.

“The BC Turkey Farmers are pleased to support The Mustard Seed Kamloops this Christmas,” said Michel Benoit of the BC Turkey Farmers. “Every year, BC Families celebrate festive occasions with a turkey as the centerpiece of their family dinner. The BC Turkey Farmers are very thankful for this and as a result, we would like to share as well with those in our communities in need. Thank you to The Mustard Seed and all the wonderful sponsors and donors that will help make Christmas 2020 a more joyous occasion in Kamloops.”

The Mustard Seed Kamloops team acknowledges that year-round support is critical to help vulnerable people, but Christmas is especially hard.

“The holidays can be a difficult time for those experiencing poverty and homelessness,” said Kelly Thomson, interim Managing Director of The Mustard Seed Kamloops. “The Turkey Toss is an opportunity for the community to come together to care for our vulnerable neighbours and show them that they are not alone this season. We are so appreciative of our partners at 98.3 CIFM and Save-On-Foods for putting together this promotion to encourage Kamloopsians to support what we do!”
