Get Active, Have Fun, and Go By Bike September 28–October 4
Kamloops, BC—The City of Kamloops is encouraging residents to park their car and grab their bike during GoByBike Week, September 28–October 4, 2020. The event encourages ridership for work, school, daily errands and promotes a way to get active, stay healthy, lower stress, and improve mental health. The event also encourages British Columbian’s to choose their bicycles for transportation rather than a motor vehicle—converting stationary time behind the steering wheel into time pedaling their bike for environmentally friendly, active transportation.
The City is offering three free introduction clinics to biking:
- Road & Gravel – September 28: Learn about the different kinds of road and gravel bikes, how to conduct a safety check, bike maintenance basics, and the rules of the road.
- E-Bikes -September 29: Learn about the different kinds of e-bikes, how to conduct an e-bike safety check, e-bike maintenance basics, and the rules of the road.
- Mountain Biking – September 30: Learn about the different kinds of mountain bikes, how to conduct a safety check, mountain bike maintenance basics, trail safety, and the rules of the trail.
Register at Kamloops.ca/PerfectMind. Registration is limited to adhere to physical distance requirements.
In addition to GoByBike BC’s participant prizing, residents can get active and have fun on a GoByBike Kamloops social media scavenger hunt. Facebook and Instagram users can tag GoByBike Kamloops on Facebook @KamloopsBTWSW or Instagram @GoByBike.Kamloops to enter to win prizes by playing along and taking photos at specific landmarks and locations throughout the city. The scavenger hunt map and full details on GoByBike week can be found at Kamloops.ca/GoByBike.
By taking part in GoByBike Week, participants across BC will have the chance to win a trip for two to Portugal, sponsored by Exodus Travels. Riders can register at GoByBikeBC.ca.
If it has been harder to get your regular exercise in these days, try GoByBike—it’s easy and FUN!
