Me and my Kamloops
2 Powerful Films On Tonight & Tomorrow

National Canada Film Day With VIFF & The Nelson Civic Theatre

The Kamloops Film Society is excited to announce an upcoming partnership with the Vancouver International Film FestivalReel Canada and The Nelson Civic Theatre for April 22nd, National Canada Film Day! We’re excited to be able to bring you film introductions and Q&As with filmmakers Mina Shum and Don McKellar, AND scheduled viewings of their respective films Meditation Park and Last Night, which are free to stream via CBC Gem. Below you’ll find information on each of our collaborators and on how to take part in this awesome event starting at 5pm on April 22nd. Come and virtually watch some films with all of us at The KFS!

Remember to use the hashtag #CanFilmDay to take part in the conversation on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

THE WAY THIS EVENT WILL WORK:
  1. At 5pm there will be an introduction by Mina Shum for her film, Meditation Park (KFS Connection: The film was a big hit during KFF 2018!!). This will be available through our partner, VIFF. We’ll share the link as soon as we have it!
  2. Then we’ll watch Meditation Park on CBC Gem. Create an account NOW if you don’t already have one so you’re ready for Wednesday!
  3. After the film, Mina Shum will be available for a live Q&A via VIFF. We will send the link when we have it! Get involved NOW by sending any questions you have to emily@thekfs.ca. The questions will be passed on to Mina!
  4. At 7pmDon McKellar (KFS Connection: Don was a guest at KFF 2011 with the film Trigger, in which he was an actor) will introduce his film, Last Night, through the VIFF link that we’ll provide as soon as we have it.
  5. Then we’ll watch Last Night on CBC Gem. Create an account NOW if you don’t already have one so you’re ready for Wednesday!
  6. After the film, Don McKellar will (“hopefully” as it will be quite late out East) be available for a live Q&A via VIFF. We will send the link when we have it! Get involved NOW by sending any questions you have to emily@thekfs.ca. The questions will be passed on to Don!
The free CBC Gem platform does have ads incorporated into the films. If you would prefer ad free viewing, you can sign up for a 30 Day free trial of CBC Gem Premium. After 30 days, Premium is $4.99/month. Cancel anytime.
