Honouring the City’s 40-Year Partnership with the Kamloops Downtown Parking Corporation
For over 40 years, the City of Kamloops has contracted the management of two downtown parkades to the Kamloops Downtown Parking Corporation (KDPC), which has managed and operated the City-owned Seymour Street and Lansdowne Street parkades since 1975.
With the contract’s term ending this coming December, the KDPC and the City have made the decision to transfer the management and operation of these lots to the City as of January 1, 2020.
“For the last four decades, the KDPC and its employees have been outstanding community partners,” said Tammy Blundell, the City’s acting Bylaw Services Manager. “Our goal is to continue to provide excellent service to the users of our downtown parkades as has been done by KDPC for the past 40 years.”
With the change in management, the City will be implementing new technology to automate parking services in both of the downtown parkades. The enhancements will increase efficiency and offer additional ways to pay for parking transactions. The only change that monthly parking permit holders will experience is that their permits will be available for purchase online as of 2020.
