Tranquille Trail - Kamloops Trails

Tranquille Trail – Kamloops Trails

We hiked the trail along the Tranquille River at the end of summer.    Part way up the trail the whole area is flooded.    The marshy area is a result of a broken water pipe that runs from the dam/water treatment area upstream down to Tranquille.    We can see the exposed pipe in several places, but at the flooded area, all of the water is released, and hikers have to cross watery sections to get upstream.    What was once a sagebrush and cactus area is now a riparian zone.

We hiked up to the point in the trail where it narrows down to a grown over track and back, dropping down to the river at a couple of points.   We saw several goldpanners out on the river.

The route is flat and easy, but always scenic.    On this day, we dropped someone at the airport, then went for an easy hike up and down the river.   Some images are shared here.   Click an image for a lightbox view.
