Red Hill Ramble - Kamloops Trails

Red Hill Ramble – Kamloops Trails

With snow covering the hills, we chose to do an on-the-snow hike in the Lac du Bois Grasslands.   The parking area for Red Hill is about 5.5 km from the cattleguard.   Faint trails go around either side of Red Hill.

Our route was around the north side of Red Hill, then around the large pond.  Hidden from the roads, this is a peaceful and scenic spot.

We did a loop route through the hills as the low winter sun shone through clouds.

We hiked past a second pond on the east side of the second hill, then looped back.

There are no trails on the east side, but it is moderate hiking though the grassland and sagebrush hills.

We continued past the east side of Red Hill and back to the trailhead.   The loop route was about 4 km, just right for a cool winter day, hiking on the snow.
