Well Done Kamloops!

The $10,000 required to bring the 2024-2025 season of New York Metropolitan Opera’s series of livestreamed opera performances to the Paramount Theatre in Kamloops was exceeded! The incredible response in only two weeks, underlines the interest in Opera and support of the Paramount Theatre.

The 2024-2025 Season starts with Jacques Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) on October 5, 2024. The eight livestreamed operas begin at 9:30am Pacific Time (1pm Eastern Time in New York).  Season’s tickets and individual opera tickets will go on sale on July 24, 2024 on www.thekfs.ca.

“We are all so excited to add this to the repertoire of our Kamloops Film Society offerings at the Paramount Theatre.” Colette Abbott, Executive Director of the Kamloops Film Society.

On September 14, 2024, we are planning to show Madama Butterfly to thank our devoted and generous donors. This opera from the 2023 season will allow us to test the equipment and launch the season in gala style! More details to follow!

The public is encouraged to subscribe to the Kamloops Film Society mailing list or follow Facebook and Instagram for opera updates and announcements throughout the season.

Thank you to our generous sponsors!

Kamloops Film Society

The Kamloops Film Society is the umbrella organization that operates the Paramount Theatre and runs two main events: The Thursday Film Series and the annual March Kamloops Film Festival, which includes the Kamloops Independent Short Shorts Festival. The KFS has been operating for over 45 years and was officially incorporated under the BC Societies Act on August 17, 1994. In the spring of 2019, The Kelson Group purchased the Paramount Theatre and leased the venue to the KFS. The support of The Kelson Group and Ron Fawcett has made the venture possible as The KFS continues to make the theatre a cultural venue.
