Jag Hill Hike – Kamloops Trails

A favorite hike is to the top of Jag Hill from the Pimple parking area.    Jag Hill is the easternmost end of the Red Plateau Escarpment.    The ridge/hill juts out over the hills below and it is an open hilltop with wide views.   There is more than one way to get to the top.    On this fall day, we followed an old double track for part of the way, then we just made our own route up the steep open slopes.   After lunch on top, we followed the ridge south, then wound around to pick up a different old double track.

From the top of Jag Hill the view is across the forested ridges of Red Plateau.    We can also hike in along this ridge route from the Red Plateau Forest Service Road.

Directly west, the Escarpment rises steeply above the Dewdrop Range.   Castle Butte was due west and Kamloops Lake was southwest.

A short video shares some of the moments from our hike on Jag Hill:

About KamloopsTrails

I started exploring this area in 1976 and I continue to follow tracks and routes wherever they lead, with the aid of map, compass, GPSr and camera. After many dead-ends, but also many discoveries, I chose to share this information. Getting out 12 months each year, I continue to explore trails, tracks, routes, and waterways of the Kamloops area and beyond.
