Kamloops has a large and vibrant number of creative people that enrich the lives of everyone in our community. Our Kamloops artists and creatives range from amateur hobbyists to people that make their living from their art.

There’s so many different methods and platforms that it can be overwhelming. Even those that spend a lot of time engaging on social media, new platforms are popping up all the time.

Creating a page or group on Facebook or using Twitter can be a great way to engage with people but they’re going to need a way to find you. Another way of getting support can be joining the Kamloops Arts Council.

Whether you’re an expert with online engagement or someone that’s just dipping your toe, the Creative Profiles on Kamloops.me can are a great place to start or bolster your online engagement.

Kamloops Artists and Creative Profiles

The first step to getting a free Creative Profile on Kamloops.me is creating a basis user account. Just like the Creative Profile, the basic user account is completely free.

Types of Kamloops Artists and Creative that are currently supported are:

  • Painting
  • Music
  • Physical Media
  • Theatre
  • Writing

If you’re a creative person but don’t fit into any of those categories, please choose the one that fits you the best. If additional categories need to be added, then they will be when there’s enough support.

Creating a Website Basic Account

I created a short 6 minute video that will run you through the process of creating a website account. When creating your basic website account, please use your real name, even if you use a different name for your art and creative efforts. When you make your creative profile, you will be able to use a different name if you prefer.

You should have a profile image handy, which would optimally be a headshot that is square or works if it’s cropped square.

If you’d like to write a little bit about yourself, you will have that option. Your creative profile will also have space for you to write a freeform biography so you can use different profiles on each to show yourself as a well rounded person.

Something that would be fun to do is use a photo of your own art if you’re a visual artist as the header background. Look at other profiles to see what’s possible.

Creating your Creative Profile

Once you’ve created your basic profile and logged in, you will be given the option to create an artist/creative profile. Once again, this is completely free. There are no “paid tiers” and it’s not a trial that you will be charged for in the future.

I created a short 7 minute video that will run you through the process of creating a Creative Profile.

You should have a photo or image that’s suitable to be used as a profile image available when you create your profile. Your profile image should be square or look great when cropped square. Profile images are shown round so if you’re not centered, things might not look optimal.

Just like the basic website account, you will have the option to add a nice header background image. This image should be wider than it is tall to look good in most cases.

Have all of your social media links handy when you create your profile. You will have the option to add links to:

  • Facebook Page
  • Facebook Group
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • Soundcloud
  • Bandcamp
  • 500px
  • Etsy
  • DeviantArt
  • IMDb

Other links that you might like to add would be a direct link to your website if  you have one and/or a crowdfunding page if you’re currently raising funds for a project.

If you want to include your phone number and email, there’s places to add those as well.

Once you’ve completed your Creative Profile, make sure you share it to social media. For added exposure, reach out to your friends, family, and supporters and get them to share you profile as well.
