Exploring the Napier Ranch Conservation Area
The Napier Ranch Conservation Area are lands under the care of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, but the grassland hills are still in use for grazing by Napier Ranch too. A gravel road leads up to the gate and we can enter the area to enjoy the benchland pastures and some of the hills above the Conservation Area (Crown lands).
A dirt track bears north to the old homestead.
More information on the Napier Lake Ranch can be found at this link.
The north end of the property was in use by ranchers so I stayed on the south end, doing a loop route up the hill. A video features some of the views of this special area:
Doug Smith
Doug writes for Kamloops Trails, a not-for-profit (and ad free) website, offering information on trails, waterways, routes, featured spots, viewpoints, and explorations in the outdoors in the Kamloops area (and beyond).
Doug started exploring this area in 1976 and continues to follow tracks and routes wherever they lead, with the aid of map, compass, GPSr and camera. After many dead-ends, but also many discoveries, he chose to share this information.
The Kamloops Trails website has a massive number of interesting posts and would be of interest to anyone in Kamloops who enjoys the outdoors. Visit the Kamloops Trails website at: http://www.kamloopstrails.ca/
