Dogwood Marshes to McConnell Lake Stomp
On a sunny winter day we started a snowshoe outing at Dogwood Marshes and followed stomped-in tracks south, climbing the forested hillside up toward McConnell Lake Provincial Park.
The trail splits into two near the fenceline and one fork ends up at the Kamloops Fish and Game Club McConnell Lake cabins. It was all quiet there as we snowshoed past, on our way to the lake.
McConnell Lake was a quiet spot. The trail around the lake had been hiked and snowshoed, but there was also a snowshoe track on the lake close to the shoreline.
The parking area for the lake had been gated off, but people park up near the Lac le Jeune Road, and then hike or snowshoe to and around the lake.
We followed a known (unsigned) route back down the hill to Dogwood Marshes and back up to the parking area, a 6 km partial loop route, one we hope to do every winter.
