Dewdrop Ridge Ramble - Kamloops Trails

Dewdrop Ridge Ramble – Kamloops Trails

Near the end of summer we were looking for smoke-free days to hike some of our local area trails.    We picked Dewdrop Ridge as our hike, on a route we have done many times.    We started at the first pullout on the right on the Frederick Road and headed south, up the open slopes to the top of the ridge overlooking the Thompson River Valley.

From the east end of the ridge, there are fine views down to Cooney Bay and up the Thompson River Estuary.

We hiked along the ridge to the west end at the top of the basalt bluffs and we had views there over Kamloops Lake with Six Mile Point in the distance.

There are only faint traces of a trail along the ridge, then down to a lower ridge overlooking Battle Bluff, but over time more people are hiking the route so there are some trail markers here and there.

An overview of the ridges is featured on the Google Earth Fly-over:

The Dewdrop Ridge hike is one of our favorites, one we do twice a year.   We will be back to do it again in spring.
