Bush Lake Snowshoe – Kamloops Trails

On a mild January day I ventured up the Lac le Jeune Road to the Bush Lake – Dogwood Marshes parking area (between the Goose Lake Road and McConnell Lake).    The parking is user-maintained and needs to be driven on for a few days, but by this day, it was fine for most vehicles.     I crossed the Lac le Jeune Road to do a 90 minute snowshoe on the Bush Lake Trails, an area between the Coquihalla highway and the Lac le Jeune Road.   The trail/route, which I have done each year, was stomped in by snowshoers and fat tire bikes.     There was some flagging tape too, but there are side trails too, so it may take others a time or two to work out the right tracks for a good loop.    There are a number of route options in both Bush Lake North and Bush Lake South.  

The temperature was 1ºC, so snow conditions were perfect for snowshoeing.  

The North Loop follows an old double track, crosses some cut blocks, then winds through the forest.    There are some old douglas fir trees, some newer pines, some alders, and some smaller cutblock openings along the way.    I completed the intial loop, then added a second loop past Bush Lake, then down the drainage before looping back through the alders.    A few images are shared here.    Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
