Boyle Point Provincial Park – Kamloops Trails
We spent a few days hiking on Denman and Hornby Islands in April. Boyle Point Provincial Park is located at the south end of Denman Island Trails wind through the douglas fir – hemlock – cedar forest, along the shores of some large marshes, and out to the rocky shoreline and seacliffs.
At the point we scrambled down to a small beach and over the rocks to Eagle Point, a rocky islet. We had views to Georgia Strait, Lambert Channel, Hornby Island and the weathered and sculpted exposed cliffs. All photos by the author. Click an image for a lightbox view and a caption.
We hiked about 6 km on good trails. We left another 6 km loop for the next time we hike on Denman Island. This was one area of 6 that we hiked on the Islands. The hike in Helliwell Park was better, but not by much and the hike to Tree Island was more dramatic and a much different type of hiking. We have spent a week at a time hiking the Gulf Islands for decades. The hikes on Denman and Hornby were some of the best, but there are more to do in future trips too.
