Barnes Trails Hike - Kamloops Trails

Barnes Trails Hike – Kamloops Trails

Doug Smith  July 16, 2023 at 8:58 am

On a hot summer morning we hiked the Barnes Lake Trails, starting from Barnhartvale Road.    We hiked a counter-clockwise loop onto Trail #2 through the open grasslands hills.

We hiked past Killdeer Pond, then up into the forested hills.

Our loop route was 6.8 km taking less than 2 hours.   On a cooler day we opt for the longer outer loop.   Along the way we met a few hikers and some horseback riders.   The grasslands were dry, but there were some wildflowers, insects, and birds, including woodpeckers and bluebirds.

Another great day of hiking in the grasslands hills near Kamloops.   More information on the Barnes Lake Trails – link.

About KamloopsTrails

I started exploring this area in 1976 and I continue to follow tracks and routes wherever they lead, with the aid of map, compass, GPSr and camera. After many dead-ends, but also many discoveries, I chose to share this information. Getting out 12 months each year, I continue to explore trails, tracks, routes, and waterways of the Kamloops area and beyond.
