Marc Miller Discusses Canada’s Social Media Ban for Children Under 16

June 29, 2026 at 1:00 pm  Federal, Politics, Video

Earlier this month, the federal government introduced legislation that would ban children under 16 from using social media unless platforms can demonstrate they have sufficient safeguards in place to protect young users. The proposal was inspired in part by Australia’s under-16 social media ban, as the country now moves to strengthen enforcement against tech companies. Minister of Canadian Culture and Identity Marc Miller joins CPAC host Marc-André Cossette to discuss Canada’s proposed legislation and the lessons being drawn from Australia’s experience.
