Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Saint-Jean-Baptiste
Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Saint-Jean-Baptiste:
“Today, Conservatives join millions of Quebecers and Francophones in celebrating the language, culture, and traditions that have helped shape our country.
“For generations, French Canadians have played a vital role in building Canada. Their contributions can be seen in every corner of our nation and remain an essential part of our shared identity.
“Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is a chance to celebrate the millions of Francophones who proudly speak Canada’s founding language. Quebec and Francophone culture continues to enrich our country through music, literature, film, comedy, and the arts, while inspiring audiences far beyond our borders.
“My Francophone roots in Saskatchewan and the months I spent in Chicoutimi as a young man gave me a deep appreciation for the French language and the important place it holds in Canada. I want to thank all those who work tirelessly to ensure that this rich heritage continues to thrive for future generations.
