First Nations parliamentarians call for passage of bill to amend Indian Act – June 11, 2026

Senator Paul Prosper and NDP MP Leah Gazan hold a news conference on Parliament Hill to call for the passage of Bill S-2, an Act to amend the Indian Act. The legislation was amended in the Senate to end the second-generation cut-off rule for the transfer of Indian status.

Zoe Craig-Sparrow, the vice-president of Justice for Girls, also gives remarks.
