Conservative MPs comment on immigration issues, decline in economic growth – May 29, 2026

Conservatives on Immigration Issues, Canada’s Economy

On Parliament Hill. Conservative MPs Michelle Rempel Garner and Gabriel Hardy comment on issues arising from Immigration Minister Lena Diab’s appearance Thursday at the Committee of the Whole.

They also speak about new Statistics Canada data showing the economy contracted in the first quarter of this year following a decline in the fourth quarter of 2025, which by some is considered a technical recession.
