VERNON-  BC New Democrat  MLA  Harwinder Sandhu says that people who use off-road vehicle trails in will see improvements thanks to funding for local snowmobile associations.

“The Okanagan is home to a strong outdoor recreation community, with opportunities to enjoy sports and activities throughout every season,” said Harwinder Sandhu, MLA for Vernon-Lumby. “We’re proud to support these two local snowmobile associations and help strengthen the experiences they provide for residents and visitors alike.”

Two local snowmobile associations are receiving funding:

  • The Lumby Mabel Lake Snowmobile Association is receiving $10,500 for their Park Mountain Chalet Solar and Tech Program

  • The Vernon Snowmobile Association is receiving $13,692 for trail brushing at the Trinity Recardo Rec Site.

This project is one of 24 receiving funding through the provincial government’s Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Trail Fund. Projects include building and maintaining trails or promoting safe and responsible use among riders.

The fund is supported by ICBC off-road vehicle registration fees across the province. Since its beginning in 2017, more than $2.5 million has supported 184 projects throughout the province.
