Manitoba Premier Announces Funding for Community Safety Programs – May 21, 2026

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew holds a news conference in Winnipeg to announce $2,200,000 in funding for community safety programs in the city. He is joined by Matt Wiebe (provincial minister of justice), Bernadette Smith (provincial minister of housing), Scott Gillingham (Mayor of Winnipeg), Kate Fenske (CEO of the Downtown Winnipeg Business Improvement Zone), Brenden Gali (general manager at local restaurant Public Domain), and members of the Downtown Community Safety Partnership.

The group takes questions from the press on community safety and other topics, including housing programs and the province’s planned youth social media ban.
