BC NDP MLA Toporowski says funding will help make events happen in the Cowichan Valley
LAKE COWICHAN – BC New Democrat MLA Debra Toporowski says that provincial grants will support upcoming local events, including Sunfest and the BC Bike Race & BC Bike Fest.
“From music to world-class biking trails to local food and drink, the Cowichan Valley gets to highlight what we do best through our annual events,” said Debra Toporowski, MLA for Cowichan Valley. “This funding will help our region attract visitors and celebrate with locals alike this year, while supporting local business, industry, and innovation.”
Local events receiving funding from the provincial government’s Destination Events Program include:
- BC Bike Race & BC Bike Fest, 2027 – $120,000
- Sunfest Country Music Festival, 2026 – $90,000
- Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival, 2026 – $13,000
