PARKSVILLE – BC NDP MLA Stephanie Higginson says capital project grants for local non-profit organizations will help preserve community gathering spaces and support long‑standing celebrations at the Parksville Museum.

“The Knox Heritage Church is a landmark building on the Parksville Museum site and plays a central role in so many of the museum’s incredible events every year like annual Railway Day, old-fashioned Halloween and Christmas, and farmers markets,” says Stephanie Higginson, MLA for Ladysmith – Oceanside. “The Parksville and District Historical Society does such a great job caring for both the museum grounds and Knox Heritage Church, and I’m glad to know that this funding will help make sure we can keep celebrating at this location for years to come.”

The Parksville and District Historical Society is receiving $33,283 for repairs to the siding of the Knox Heritage Church. This project includes the removal and abatement of the existing siding, followed by installation and painting of new cedar siding to preserve the historic structure.

Across B.C., 39 non-profit organizations are receiving a total of $5.1 million for capital projects through the Community Gaming Grants program.

In total, more that $138 million will be distributed through all streams of the Community Gaming Grant program for the 2025/26, helping to ensure funding reaches organizations that build connected, inclusive and resilient communities.
