Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Eid al-Fitr

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Eid al-Fitr:

“Tonight, the most solemn month in the Islamic year draws to a close.

“As Shawwal begins, Muslims across our great country come together to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Their weeks of intensified reflection and self-denial are at an end; the time has come to break the fast.

“As you gather as families and congregations, I want to send my warmest wishes to Canada’s incredible Muslim community.

“Know that His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition will always defend your places of worship, and uphold your right to practice your faith.

“Eid Mubarak.”
