“We’re Not Seeing the End of This”: What the Supreme Court’s Tariff Decision Means for Trump

The United States Supreme Court has struck down President Donald Trump’s use of the IEEPA to impose tariffs, a decision with significant political and economic implications for both the United States and Canada.

Michael Serapio is joined by Matthew Leffler, lawyer, Adjunct Professor of Law at Michigan State University, and host of the Armchair Attorney Podcast, to explain what the ruling means and what comes next.

Leffler discusses Trump’s long-standing belief in using tariffs as an economic tool, the possibility for Congress to block future tariff initiatives, and why this decision does not affect existing sector-specific tariffs on industries such as steel and automotive, which are of great importance to the Canadian economy.
