Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Tamil Heritage Month

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Tamil Heritage Month:

“This month, we celebrate the hardworking Canadians of Tamil heritage who have given so much to our communities. For generations, they have grown their businesses, built churches and temples, and carried forward the values they’ve held for generations, benefiting us all. 

“In my time as a Member of Parliament, I have been blessed to witness the full colour and hospitality of Tamil culture, and seen the incredible contributions that Canadians of Tamil heritage make to our Conservative movement and our politics as a whole.

“Tamil Heritage Month is also a chance to reflect on the ongoing need for justice. As the Official Opposition, we are steadfast in our belief that the perpetrators of the Tamil Genocide must be brought to justice, and that Canada must never be a safe haven for war criminals.

“On behalf of all my colleagues, I want to wish all those celebrating a very happy Tamil Heritage Month!”
