What Will be the Priorities for the Next U.S. Ambassador?

Unconfirmed reports say that the next Canadian ambassador to the U.S. will be financier Mark Wiseman, someone well known to the Prime Minister. The current ambassador, Kirsten Hillman, announced yesterday that she will step down from her role in the beginning of 2026. Louise Blais, who served as Canada’s Ambassador to the U.N. from 2017 to 2021, believes the next ambassador’s priority will be to build relationships since the situation with the United States is tense.
