Retour d’artefacts autochtones au Canada: « Une grande guérison », dit la sénatrice Michèle Audette

Après des années d’attente, les chefs des Premières Nations ont accueilli samedi à l’aéroport de Montréal des dizaines d’artefacts autochtones restitués par le Vatican. Ces objets, incluant des gants brodés, un kayak et une écharpe de portage, provenaient de la collection du Saint-Siège. Les 62 artefacts seront transférés au Musée canadien de l’histoire à Ottawa, où des groupes autochtones nationaux détermineront leurs communautés d’origine afin qu’ils puissent enfin retourner sur leur territoire. La sénatrice Michèle Audette, de la communauté innue de Uashat mak Mani-Utenam, se réjouit de cette restitution.
