Former Toronto Mayor Denounces MOU: Federal Funding Shouldn’t Subsidize Making Climate Change Worse

The MOU signed between Ottawa and Alberta last week has raised serious concerns among environmentalists. Steven Guilbeault, who resigned from Mark Carney’s cabinet last week in opposition to the MOU, said today that the country is not getting much in exchange for dropping environmental regulations for Alberta. CPAC’s Michael Serapio interviews David Miller, who was the mayor of Toronto from 2003 to 2010 and now co-chairs “Elbows Up for Climate”, a group of municipal leaders advocating for national projects and policies that have climate in mind. He denounces the MOU, stating that federal funding shouldn’t subsidize making climate change worse.
