KIJHL Power Rankings (Week 11)
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Power Rankings for Week 11.
The Kamloops Storm defeated the Williams Lake Mustangs and 100 Mile House Wranglers on the weekend to go 10-0 in November. Joshua Nuttall earned his first KIJHL shutout with a 26-save effort in a 4-0 win over the Mustangs. Hayden Selin netted the winner. The Storm secured the win with three third-period goals in the opening five minutes. A 3-1 final against the Wranglers gave the Storm an undefeated month. Brenner Fyfe stopped 36 of 37 shots. Noah Paulsen scored the winner on the power-play. Kamloops is 18-4-1-0 on the season.
The Revelstoke Grizzlies split their games last week defeating the Merritt Centennials, then losing to the Quesnel River Rush. Jaylen Forsyth scored the winner 26 seconds after the Centennials tied the game. Austin Seibel made 35 saves, including 19 of 20 in the first period. The Grizzlies lost 3-2 in a shootout to the River Rush after leading 2-0. William Stewart made 35 saves for Revelstoke. The Grizzlies are now 15-4-0-2.
The Beaver Valley Nitehawks won both its divisional matchups on the weekend against the Spokane Braves and Nelson Leafs. The Braves may have caused the Nitehawks to sweat a bit as a 6-0 lead finished as a 6-4 final. Brady Magarrell’s hat-trick goal (24) wound up being the winner. He has now established a new season high in goals surpassing the 22 he scored as a rookie last season. Preston Shumate earned his seventh win with a 31-save effort. Against the Leafs, Maddox Gandha set up Brady Walker for the winner in overtime in a 4-3 final. Karsten Hugenholtz won his third straight game with a 26-save performance. The Nitehawks are now 17-5-0 on the season.
The Kelowna Chiefs earned wins over the Osoyoos Coyotes and Grand Forks Border Bruins. In a 4-1 win over the Coyotes, Clayton Gillmore returned to the lineup to score the winner with his first goal of the season. Michael Makowsky made 33 saves. Then in a 3-2 win against the Border Bruins, Ty Pannett’s third goal of the season won the game. Makowsky made 24 saves. The Chiefs are 16-3-1 on the season.
The Kimberley Dynamiters picked up wins against the Grand Forks Border Bruins and Spokane Braves. In a 3-1 win over the Border Bruins, Nate Murdoch scored twice, including the winner, in the rematch of last year’s Kootenay Conference Final. Adam Kisilevich was excellent in goal making 40 saves. In a 4-2 win over the Braves, Nate Murdoch scored the winner again. Connor Baumbach was busy in the Dynamiters net making 42 saves. The Dynamiters are 15-4-1-1 on the season.
