Reports say that the Alberta and federal governments are working on a memorandum of understanding that includes a pipeline proposal. But the B.C. government has opposed the pitch for a pipeline to its northwest coast. How will the federal government navigate tensions between the western provinces and between the needs of the energy sector, environmentalists and Indigenous communities?

The Carney government narrowly passes its first budget. But what does this week’s budget vote reveal about Mark Carney’s leadership?
