Secteur forestier: Quelle aide dont a besoin l’industrie?

L’industrie du bois d’œuvre fait désormais face à des tarifs de 45 % sur ses exportations vers les États-Unis, après que Donald Trump a imposé une surtaxe additionnelle de 10 % le mois dernier. La semaine dernière, François Legault a évoqué la possibilité que 30 000 des 60 000 emplois du secteur disparaissent en raison, notamment, des tarifs douaniers américains. Lundi, après la rencontre des premiers ministres, la première ministre du Nouveau-Brunswick, Susan Holt, a indiqué qu’Ottawa préparait un nouveau plan d’aide « important ». Selon Martin Bouchard, directeur général de l’Association québécoise des entrepreneurs forestiers, il faut d’abord une reconnaissance claire du rôle des entrepreneurs dans la foresterie.
