The Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) has released its 2024-2025 research report, showcasing a wide range of studies that tackle pressing issues — from invasive species in B.C.’s grasslands to the future of artificial intelligence (AI) in Canadian health care.

“Our faculty are committed to producing high-quality research year-round, and we are proud to shine a light on this work, which often happens behind the scenes” says Dr. Ehsan Latif, professor and interim dean at TRU Gaglardi.

The report provides a snapshot of key studies in language that is accessible to a wide audience. Those who wish to dive deeper can read the full research papers via the links provided.

“Research is knowledge creation. It advances our understanding in a given field through rigorous methodology and peer review,” says Latif. “We invite media, policymakers and the public to explore the findings.”

Highlights include:

  • A study estimating the public’s willingness to invest in sustainable control policies for invasive plants across B.C.’s Interior.
  • An analysis of Canada’s readiness to adopt AI in its e-health systems, with recommendations for improving access and trust.
  • A study exploring how starting a business can reshape personal identity, purpose and career direction.
  • A timely look at fuel tax reform, proposing a shift to vehicle-kilometre-based taxation as electric vehicles reshape Canada’s roads.
