Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Veterans’ Week:

“Canadians owe a debt of gratitude to those who defended our country at sea, on land and in the air. This week, as we celebrate those who served with professionalism and courage, we pause to reflect on the sacrifices they made: both in their lives at home and on operations abroad.

“This is also a time to remember how veterans built the country we know and love. For untold thousands of our fellow citizens, their time in the Canadian Armed Forces instilled the values and mentality that allowed them to thrive in civilian life.

“After the World Wars, entire generations returned from serving King and country, eager to make Canada a better place. Today, their legacy can still be found in communities and businesses across our common home, and in veterans of our own time who embody the same spirit of entrepreneurship and hard work.

“On behalf of all my Conservative colleagues, I want to send my best wishes to all our incredible veterans and to the amazing families who support them. Together, may we build a country worthy of their efforts.”
