Call for a diplomatic reprimand of U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra

The U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra caused quite a stir Monday evening by reportedly using profane language against Ontario’s representative in Washington David Patterson. Fen Hampson, professor with Carleton University’s Norman Patterson School of International affairs and co-chair of the expert group on Canada – U.S. relations, wrote an article for Policy Magazine, in which he calls on Global Affairs Canada to register displeasure with Ambassador Hoekstra. For Hampson, it is important to have a relationship based on mutual respect between allies.
