MPs comment on PM Carney’s Washington trip, talk of reviving Keystone XL – October 8, 2025

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill ahead of the daily question period in the House of Commons.

Prime Minister Mark Carney, Minister Steven Guilbeault (Canadian Identity and Culture) as well as Liberal MPs Judy Sgro, Bill Blair and Conservative Deputy Leader Melissa Lantsman are asked about the prime minister’s meeting on Tuesday in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Conservative House Leader Andrew Scheer, Guilbeault, Blair, Liberal MP Jaime Battiste and Bloc Québécois MP Patrick Bonin comment on reports that Prime Minister Carney discussed the possibility of reviving the Keystone XL pipeline in his meeting with President Trump.

Bloc Québécois MP Xavier Barsalou-Duval is asked about the probe into Canada’s trucking sector over allegations of exploitative practices.

Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree discusses Bill C-12, new legislation that he introduced earlier in the House of Commons that focuses on border security and the integrity of Canada’s immigration system.
