KIJHL announces Team of the Week (Week 3)

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) has announced its Team of the Week selections for the period ending Oct.5/25.

 

Forwards:

Lynden Gorman – Quesnel River Rush

Gorman averaged .90 points per game last season for the River Rush in 20 games. The Edmonton product was a standout in their 12-2 win over the Golden Rockets, netting four goals, including the winner and six points. He’s averaging 1.57 points per game.

JP Desabrais – Williams Lake Mustangs

Desabrais had a big performance against the Kamloops Storm, netting a hat-trick and setting up the overtime winner. He then collected two assists in their win over the Golden Rockets. The Red Earth Creek, Alta., product reached 100 career KIJHL points on Sept. 21 against the River Rush.

Steven Foster – Merritt Centennials

The second-year Cent had three goals and an assist in three games. Foster delivered for the Centennials against the defending KIJHL champion Grand Forks Border Bruins by assisting on the 2-2 goal, then netted the winner in a 6-5 final. The Abbotsford product leads the Centennials with nine points in seven games and has a team-leading seven goals.

 

Defence:

Kole Duquette – 100 Mile House Wranglers

Duquette scored a goal and four points in two games for the Wranglers in a pair of losses. He had a goal and two assists in an 8-5 loss to the Merritt Centennials on Sept. 30, then collected two assists in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Cents on Oct.4.

Sam Chartres – Beaver Valley Nitehawks

Chartres was excellent for the Nitehawks collecting four assists in their 7-0 win over the Leafs on Oct.3. His first assist helped set up Brady Magarrell to give them a 3-0 lead. Chartres has six points in six games.

 

Goalie:

Brenner Fyfe – Kamloops Storm

Fyfe was unbeatable in a 3-0 win against the Quesnel River Rush with an outstanding 44-save shutout performance. The River Rush pressured in the third period, firing 17 shots on the Lethbridge, Alta., product.
