Tibet’s government-in-exile leader holds a news conference in Ottawa – October 2, 2025

President Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration holds a news conference in Ottawa alongside several MPs. The group is raising concerns about state-run boarding schools in China, which they claim are erasing Tibetan culture.

Also speaking at the news conference are Conservative MP Garnett Genuis, Bloc Québécois MP Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe, and Liberal MP Karim Bardeesy, as well as Charles Burton, senior advisor of the Canada Tibet Committee, and Dean Baxendale, international columnist and publisher.
